The Consumer Product Safety Commission, as part of there PoolSafely initiative, has just released a series of excellent videos on YouTube.  I’d like to urge all parents to visit poolsafely.gov,  and youtube.com/poolsafely.  Their advice is absolutely lifesaving.

“Because you never know which safety step will save a life until it does.” Love that.

Good film clips covering preventive measures, but I also absolutely recommend reading Mario's article “Drowning doesn't look like drowning” which has a link on the right. I was surprised at how much of the information was new to me, but even more so by the responses from lifeguards who said that even their training didn't acquaint them with the “silent drownings” and just what the Instinctive Drowning Response looks like. It's absolutely life-saving!
