Writing
Thanks to Captain Vince Daniello - Yachting Magazine published this safety piece on heavy weather sailing in February of 2008. Vince spent months teaching me how to write in marathon email teaching sessions that were invaluable. I’ll still learn from Vince every time he reviews a new boat or marina resort somewhere (tough life). Check out Vince’s excellent work for Yachting and Motorboating.
Since then I’ve written for Reader’s Digest, SaltWater Sportsman, Motorboating Magazine, and SeaTow’s Lifelines.
Captain John Konrad at gCaptain.com – the worlds most popular maritime website – gave me the opportunity to vent my opinions about issues relating to safety at sea, including:
- The Truth About Cold Water
- Drowning Doesn’t Look Like Drowning
- 406 EPIRBS are Digital, Right?
- Marine Flares – More Than Meets the Eye
Peter Mello forced me to write down the things I rant about in the world of work and posted them on his site.
Other professional writing includes in-house and non-resident training manuals for the United States Coast Guard, work on Immersion Hypothermia for the U.S. Naval Safety Center, and the U.S. Coast Guard’s On Scene Magazine.
